![]() ![]() If someone would emulate the MEA-2 or the AD2055 =Īs I work totally ITB I can only compare it with my usual suspects: The others sound awesome - no question - but a little sterile for my taste. In MY experience, the Sontec ALWAYS made the better job in a musical manner. I don't own any of the hardware versions, but I've often attended mastering sessions where either Sontec, Maselec and Avalon had to be chosen for whatever reason. (Sure, sometimes it's just a matter of taste and it's nice to have a certain amount of options.)īUT: every single move I do on the Sontec is very much "obvious" and has a very expedient musical result. I've been using the Massive Passive for that manner, but the latter isn't that "obvious" in comparison. To make it short - IMHO there is no better way out there to shape the midrange in a musical way than with this EQ. i actually Like the Clunk & Pinnnggg effects LoL I've been using my real hardware 432 daily for almost 17 years. Since i work 99% hybrid analog out-de-box. I have 2 other 432 ITB "copy" EQs, but i Never use them. ![]() $199 introductory special for a $10,000 iconic analog EQ emulation, Burgess approved. MAKE BELIEVE STUDIOS - SONTEC 432-D9D | MAKEBELIEVE bundle I will have to try this one out for sure. There's no switching "clunk" and the frequency switches don't rotate all the way around though.Well, well, well. Stepped positions and sans (optional) graphic display are always good for decisions. I'm told the curves and interactivity "are -dead- on".Īnd (part of its "sound" to many, I suspect), the widest bandwidth bells also affect the entire audio spectrum (as per the hardware). I haven't done a direct comparison with the Sontec MES 432 hardware but this sounds good: the highs are smoothly "musical", no added noise or THD or unnecessary filtering at the extremes (pink noise tested).
